Hi everyone,
In todays post I'm going to talk about developing your technique on the flute.
Developing your technique on the flute can take a while to get right, and your always going to get it right first time and that's okay.
One Octave Scales
Scales are brilliant for you to develop your technique. When you are just starting out learning a new technique the best thing to do is pick a scale that you are comfortable in playing, and then work on the technique that you have been given to learn.
Take Your Time
Just take it slowly when you are just starting out learning a new technique. You might just want to start familiarising yourself with the technique just using one singular note, and play that note over and over again until you feel that you have grasped it a little bit. You then might to develop that technique using three notes of the one octave scale, and then just carry on progressing through the scale until you think you may have it. You can always try the technique on both the ascending and descending scale, and see how it feels.

- Slurred
Flute Studies
These are also good way in helping you developing your technique on the flute. Just make sure that they are easy studies, but they are studies that including some technical stuff. Studies can sometimes include a variety of technical aspects to them such as a mixture of slurred and staccato notes. Also, when learning any flute studies; break them down into more manageable chunks, as it will make it easier for you to grasp by focusing on smaller chunk rather than everything one go.
I've suggested the idea of learning easy studies, as I don't want you to get to overwhelmed with learning a new study with the added factor of improving on your technical abilities.
