Hi everyone,
In this post I'm going to talk about the Rubank Flute Method books. I have both the Elementary method and also the Intermediate method books.
The Elementary method book may start off a little boring in the beginning few pages, as it focuses on long tones to help develop your embouchure in the early stages, but the book then begins to progress on to easy melodies to get you used to counting and rhythm. Throughout the Elementary method there's little studies and duets that you can learn with either your teacher or your friends.
Across both method books you have exercises and pieces that work on developing your scales, articulation studies, chord/ arpeggio studies, examination studies, staccato studies, studies to work on expression, tonguing studies and so much more. For two little books - these cover a lot to get you familiar with the different aspects of playing and developing on the flute; whilst at the same time being really approachable and user friendly.
I've not had the books that long in my sheet music collection, but they have been really beneficial for helping me to get my fingers around aspects of my own playing. I'm still trying to figure why it took me so long to get these into my collection, because they are so good.
These books are also available for a range of instruments, and there's also an advanced method available for some instruments.
