My Personal Flute Journey (so far ...)

Hi everyone,

I started my journey with the flute back in 2013, and my first student flute was the Trevor James 10x and I had this flute for around two years before I suddenly outgrew it and it wasn't suiting me anymore.

I had to upgrade my flute on short notice, as the Trevor James flute just wasn't agreeing with me. So I purchased a closed hole Miyazawa 202 flute with the partial Brogger system. This flute had a sterling silver headjoint and a silver plated body and mechanism. This flute was also 20 years at the time, but I was its first ever owner. I played on this flute for around two to three years, but again it wasn't for me.

My current flute is my Altus 1107 with open holes and a C foot joint, and this is my favourite out of all of the flutes I've ever owned. It has the Z cut head joint, and its head joint and body is 958 silver with a silver plated mechanism. This flute did take me a while to get used too due it being my first open holed flute, and the head joint is more square than what I was used to. But, I absolutely love this flute to bits as it has a depth within the lower register that my other flutes didn't have; but the higher up the octaves I play the more the flute opens up and becomes brighter. I can also change my tonal colours on this flute quite easily without overdoing it. The Altus 1107 is also a very responsive flute, maybe a little too responsive (but I like it).

I'm going to do individual posts about all of the flutes that I have purchased through out my flute journey. That way you get an idea of the specifications of each flute, and my thoughts on each of the flutes that I have owned. This post was more of just an overview of what my flute journey has been up to now, and there's still more to come.
