Hi everyone,
In this post I'm going to talk about the study books by the composer James Rae.
The study books by James Rae are available across all woodwind instruments, and because these are modern studies there is an element of fun across both of these study books. Another aim of these study books is to help familiarise the flute player with different playing styles such as Jazz, Rock and Contemporary Classical music.
Both of these books are suitable for beginner flute learners right the way through to advanced flute learners, so there's something for everyone at every level of their flute journey.
All of the studies have an element of fun to them due to them being modern flute studies, and within each study there's a different playing style to help you to broaden your playing knowledge. But, because these are studies are done in a manageable way it shouldn't be too overwhelming. Once these studies start to get to the more intermediate/ advanced stages the studies start to grow in length, and they start to throw in a few challenges such as time signature changes.
Also, the format of these study books are in a really approachable format, and they have clear explanations at the beginning of the books on what the aim of the study books are.
The study books by James Rae are probably some of the most fun and contemporary flute studies within my entire flute sheet music collection.
